Your hike will start in Bambu at a cultural center named “Encuentro de Culturas,” which means “Cultural Encounters.”
This amazing center was designed and built using ancient traditional Bribri methods, and the architecture itself is stunning. Once you are inside the house you’ll experience a strange, peaceful feeling which will make you want to stay forever. It’s truly a tropical paradise! But you can’t stay forever, as you and your guide will head up to the top of a nearby mountain. Your guide will explain to you about all the different kinds of trees, plants and flowers along the way. All of these natural elements have a purpose in the life of an indigenous person. They let little go to waste and for thousands of years have found natural remedies using medicinal plants. 
During the peaceful and breathtaking walk you will stop at an indigenous house to spend a little time with a local family and actually get a better sense of their culture and how they live on a daily basis.
At the end of your journey to the top of the mountain, you’ll arrive at a point where you’ll be able to take in all different kinds of birds, animals and amazing views while you rest and prepare for the decent back down the mountain. 
This tour lasts about 3 hrs and includes a delicious, traditional indigenous lunch.
How to get there: You will be taking the public bus from the center of town in Puerto Viejo to a nearby town called Bribri. It departs every hour on the half hour (1:30, 2:30, etc.) and lasts about 30 minutes. Once you arrive in the center of Bribri, you’ll be met by a private driver who will then take you onto the indigenous reservation for arrival at the Bambu Cultural Center. What to bring:
*Please note the cost of public bus is approximately $1 per person each way and is not included in the package price. The cost of the private driver from Bribri to Bambu and back is included in the price. Upon your discretion, you may consider giving a gratuity to your guide and to the taxi driver. **An alternative to taking the public bus is to hire a private taxi for $45 round-trip.
