This is the tour for you if you are looking for a once-in-a-lifetime, authentic indigenous experience. It’s also a great break away from the typical tourist traps you’ll find in other parts of the country. And your tourist dollars will be going directly to support more than 20 indigenous families participating in this project.
In addition to spending the night in the gorgeously designed and remote Bambu Cultural Center, you’ll have the opportunity to take part in all of the following tours:
In order to take advantage of all that this tour package has to offer, you’ll need arrive early in the morning.
How to get there: You will be taking the public bus from the center of town in Puerto Viejo to a nearby town called Bribri. It departs every hour on the half hour (1:30, 2:30, etc.) and lasts about 30 minutes. Once you arrive in the center of Bribri, you’ll be met by a private driver who will then take you onto the indigenous reservation directly to the Bambu Cultural Center where the fun begins.
What to bring:
*Please note the cost of public bus is approximately $1 per person each way and is not included in the package price. The cost of the private driver from Bribri to Bambu and back is included in the price. Upon your discretion, you may consider giving a gratuity to your guide and to the taxi driver. **An alternative to taking the public bus is to hire a private taxi for $45 round-trip.
